Superior Deluxe Double Room – $149 per night

Amtrak -Skip the Acela and save some bucks riding the Regional to NY Penn (as low as $49 one way). Although 30+ minutes slower, it is more comfortable and much less expensive. The quiet car is at the front or back of the train. Beer and wine in the cafe car in case you want to start early.

Note: The earlier you book your ticket, the less expensive it will be. Except for the deeply discounted fares, you can get a refund if you cancel before the date of departure. Use the Amtrak app on your phone or tablet to book.

Fly

Private Jet – Teterboro is your best bet. You can use the Eastside Heliport but getting crosstown is a pain. Commercial flight – No one does that anymore.

Bus

Great view from the top of the doubledecker, but no guarantee on arrival times due to traffic. Trips range from 4 to 8 hours. Most buses leave from South Station, Boston and arrive near Penn Station, NYC. Cheap rates and you get to spend all that time in a library atmosphere as everyone is heads down in their phones texting.

Drive

Always a nice drive until you have to park your car at $55+ a day. There is parking at Icon Parking at 20 W. 64th Street, down the street from the Empire Hotel.
